Michael Larabel, the founder of phoronix.com, has been invited to visit the Valve headquarters by its boss Gabe Newell. Yesterday, it was the day on which he was able to take a look inside the development progress of Steam for Linux. He has not only talked to Gabe Newell about Valve's plans regarding Linux, but even has tested the native Steam client on Ubuntu.
Although the Linux gamers are experiencing an impressing time today, even better times are waiting for them in the near future.
While Steam for Linux is currently being developed, Linux users can already today use the digital game distribution service Desura. Desura is very similar to Steam and offers a very extensive collection of games for Linux.
A few days ago I sent an e-mail to the CEO of Valve - Gabe Newell - in which I showed our wish for Steam for Linux and I have also asked him about the release date of Steam for Linux.
