CodeWeavers, the software company behind Wine, has released CrossOver 14, a software for easy running Windows applications on Linux and Mac OS X. The new version is full of new features and comes in time to the 10th anniversary of Ubuntu, as 10 years ago Mark Shuttleworth announced Ubuntu 4.10 "Warty Warthog", the first version of Ubuntu.
The game pioneer and id Software's co-founder John Carmack has already expressed some concerns regarding the viability of Linux as a gaming platform. Now he has published a comment on Twitter, in which he said that improving Wine is a better way for Gaming on Linux than porting games to the OS.
CodeWeavers, the company behind CrossOver and Wine, has released CrossOver 11.2.1. CrossOver Linux not only allows to run games such as Diablo III and Left 4 Dead, but it also supports running of other Windows applications like Microsoft Office 2010. CrossOver is currently the easiest way to install Steam and the games from the Steam catalog on Linux.
